Development Director Accepts Position at Loma Linda

Charlotte Henderson, Director of Development for Southwestern Adventist University, announced her resignation this week. Henderson has been at SWAU since May 2001 and just accepted the position of major gifts officer for the Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions.

“It was a difficult decision,” Henderson said, “since coming to Texas was coming home for me. I have truly loved living in the Keene area.” The native Texan had not resided in the state since she was 10 years old.

Loma Linda contacted Henderson last July. “It has taken several months to work out the details and a lot of thought and prayer,” she said. “As much as I appreciate Southwestern, its donors, and my colleagues, this is a wonderful opportunity for me that will bring new challenges and professional growth. Southwestern has a rich history and a bright future and it will always hold a special place in my heart.” Henderson begins her new position January 1, 2005.

Gary Temple, SWAU vice president for university advancement, said Henderson has had a profound impact on the office of university advancement during her tenure at SWAU. “During the past four years she has realigned areas of responsibility for personnel, restructured the office management systems, overseen a major software conversion, and decorated our aging office area into a pleasant work place,” Temple said. “But most of all, Charlotte’s attention to detail, genuine love for people, and professional ethics have won the hearts of faculty and staff, alumni, and friends of the university. We are all going to miss this ‘classy lady’ greatly.”

Temple said the university administration and office of university advancement will begin immediately working to identify candidates to fill the position. “We are looking for dedicated people with strong spiritual values, a proven work ethic, and a love for people,” Temple said. “Individuals with a background in development and/or office management are encouraged to apply.”
