Admissions Criteria
Incoming Freshmen are eligible for the Honors Program if they have a 3.5 high school GPA, an SAT score of 1050+, or an ACT score of 24+. To remain in the program, students must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA.
Graduation Requirements
For all Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
Your requirements are listed in each year's SWAU bulletin and in the Honors Program Handbook. You must complete 16 units of Honors courses.
9 units of Core Courses
- Honors 104 Human Communication
- Honors 204 Advanced American History
- Honors 205 Advanced Western Civilization
- Honors 304 Understanding the Universe
- Honors 404 The Bible and Human Understanding.
3 units of seminar courses
These courses are numbered HNRS 250 or 450.
- HNRS 250, 450 Honors Seminar
Each course will be 1 unit.
At least 3 units of Honors 480.
This is the Honors Thesis course. Remember that you need to have your Honors Thesis proposal approved and on file in the Honors office before you apply to take this course.
1 unit of Honors 481.
In the Honors Thesis Forum, you'll present the results of your research.
