Students with Disabilities

The Office of Students with Disabilities is dedicated to assisting all students with disabilities.  A disability is one that substantially limits one or more of a person's major life activities and may necessitate accommodations to the facilities, programs, or services of the University.  Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicap against persons in programs or activities benefiting from federal assistance.  In a post-secondary setting, the American with Disabilities Act is a federal regulation that mandates "reasonable accommodations" for students with disabilities.

In order to qualify for accommodations under Section 504, a student must be diagnosed by a qualified professional.  The documentation then will be reviewed by the Director of Students with Disabilities.  In order to qualify for accommodations under Section 504, the student must have current documentation (See the Educational Tessting Service website under Test Takers with Disabilities for documentation criteria).  http://www.ets.org

  1. Complete and submit an application to the Admissions Office.
  2. Submit test scores and/or transcripts as required by First-Time Freshman or Transfer Student Admission requirements.
