James W. Gilley ‘60

Serving: 3ABN President
Academic Degree: Theology

After finishing two years of theology training at Southwestern Junior College, James completed his undergraduate and graduate work through the seminary at Andrews University. In 1968, he was ordained into the ministry and began his pastoral ministry as in Arlington, Texas. Then he spent seven years as president for the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference. Later, a call came to serve in the North American Division. He accepted the call and became a general vice-president of the North American Division. He continues to serve in this role and is overseeing the NAD areas of ministerial, evangelism, stewardship, radio-television ministries and special assignments. One of his most challenging assignments, as vice president, was when he served in New York City just after September 11. There he organized hundreds of pastors, counselors and students to minister to the needs of the lost, confused and bewildered inhabitants of Manhattan during that very difficult time. James is married to the former Camille Thurmon ‘60. They have four children, who each graduated from Southwestern. They are blessed to also have six grandchildren.
