Financial Aid Application Steps
Step 1
Apply for Admittance to Southwestern
Acceptance to the university is required before a student can be awarded federal or state aid. To check your acceptance status, you may contact the Admissions Office at (800) 645-3921 ext. 6733.
Step 2
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Request a PIN # at the Federal Student Aid PIN Web site. (Student and parents use PIN numbers as an electronic signature on the FAFSA)
- Complete an application:
- Online at the Federal Student Aid FAFSA Web site OR
- Request a paper application from the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800-4-FED-AID (800-433-3243) OR
- Print a paper application at Federal Student Aid.

Step 3
Complete any other documentation requested by Student Financial Services needed for verification.
Step 4
When all documents have been received and verified, your aid will be awarded and you will receive an Award Notification in the mail. You may also view your awards on your student portal.
