"Music," said Martin Luther, "is the art of the prophets and the gift of God."
Southwestern's music faculty embrace the notion that music is indeed a gift from God. Your involvement in Southwestern's music program, whether as a music major, as a member of one of its performing groups, or by taking individual music lessons, will be an occasion for developing a God-given gift.
Southwestern Adventist University enjoys a reputation for strong performing groups. Both choir and wind symphony are directed by accomplished and vigorous conductors. As part of these groups you will have the opportunity not only to tour and perform locally, but also to participate in the annual gala performance at the magnificent Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.
Southwestern's music program is also known for its effective music education program. You--our students--will gain a solid grounding in music theory and pedagogy, which will prepare you for elementary and secondary music instruction as well as for graduate study.
