Krystal Hauff, SWAU assistant professor of physical education and wellness, is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Health and Fitness Instructor. Hauff’s recent ACSM certification enables her to become a personal trainer, but she has decided to use it for another reason.  “I took it to become a better teacher,” said Hauff. As the only SWAU health and fitness professor certified by ACSM, Hauff is able to tell students how to prepare for the test and receive their certification as well.

Hauff received her certification from the University of Texas at Arlington

Recent graduate of SWAU Celeste Becker took the test with her and received certification as well. Test requirements involve a written test as well as a practical test to demonstrate proper weight lifting techniques as well as other exercise related maneuvers.

Hauff is a Health and Fitness professor at Southwestern Adventist University. She graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science from Union College, a Master of Education at the University of Nebraska, and is currently working on her Ph.D. in Health Studies at Texas Woman’s University.  She has taught at SWAU for the past five years, is the advisor for the exercise science degree, and is teaching nine classes including: Nutrition, Care and Prevention, and ACSM.

According to Hauff, ACSM is the most widely recognized and prestigious health and fitness organization. It is well known for setting health and fitness standards nationwide. Hauff is also a certified athletic trainer. She graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science from Union College, a Master of Education at the University of Nebraska, and is currently working on her Ph.D. in Health Studies at Texas Woman’s University.
