Southwestern Adventist University was the last stop for the Leadership Cleburne tour on Wednesday.  A group of about 25 enjoyed learning about the resources available on the campus of SWAU.  A beautiful clear day, gave the group the opportunity to view downtown Fort Worth from the observation area in the library tower, the highest point in Johnson County. In the Chan Shun Centennial Library, the group found new options for research and historical information.

Next, the tour visited the Physical Science department at SWAU, where they saw hundreds of dinosaur bones and learned about creation-based research at SWAU. Southwestern Adventist University has been conducting a dinosaur excavation research project in the Lance formation of eastern Wyoming for many years.  Dr. Larry Turner, director of institutional research and planning spoke to the group about The Dinosaur Project. “We are quarrying in an extremely rich bone bed finding the remains of a number of upper Cretaceous dinosaurs,” said Turner. “The project provides exciting experience in the quarrying techniques and the joy of discovery for everyone that participates.”

Last, Leadership Cleburne visitors toured the Hopps Museum and Welcome Center.  Here they saw hundreds of historical objects, and displays depicting the roots of SWAU and Johnson County.
