2019 Honors Study Tour American Writers in Paris
The two-week travel portion of the course will include visits to Paris, Giverny, Versailles, Bayeux, Mont St. Michel, the Normandy beaches. This course will fulfill the Literature requirement of the Core Curriculum.

2018 Honors Study Tour Music and Culture of the American South
This course will focus on the history of Southern music, particularly gospel, blues, jazz, and traditional. The historical development of each genre will be illustrated by playing musical numbers. The course will discuss how Southern culture (especially African-American culture) has influenced Southern music and will highlight leading musicians from each genre (like Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King and Louis Armstrong). The ten-day travel portion of the course will include visits to Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA, Natchez, MS and Indianola, MS. This course fulfills the Fine Arts requirement of the Core Curriculum.
2017 Honors Study Tour American & British Writers in Italy
This course will study the writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry James, John Keats, Percy Shelley, Elizabeth Browning and Lord Byron, with a particular focus on writing they did while in Italy. The travel portion of the course will include visits to Rome, Florence, Ravenna and Venice. This course fulfills the Literature requirement of the Core Curriculum.
2016 Honors Study Tour German Identity: Imperial Dream, National Nightmare
This year’s cultural tour, “Imperial Dream, National Nightmare,” will take honors students to key locations in German history such as Berlin, Wittenberg, Leipzig, Dresden, Nuremberg, and Munich. You will visit Checkpoint Charlie, the Gestapo Museum, the Berlin Wall, the War Trials Museum, a Nazi concentration camp, Neuschwanstein Castle, and many other important sites as you discover what went into the formation of Germany and the issues involved in creating German identity. This course partially fulfills the History requirement of the Core Curriculum.
