Gifts in Kind
Items of tangible personal property (including art, collectibles, books, equipment) and other personal assets or materials of value may be given to Southwestern Adventist University. We welcome many gifts-in-kind; information on IRS appraisal requirements of donated gifts-in-kind can be provided to potential donors by the Development Office. Contributions of gifts-in-kind should first be approved by the respective dean, department chair, or director associated with the proposed gift. For more information on making a Gift in Kind please contact Tiffany McMearty at 817-202-6628 or tiffanym[at]swau.edu.
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that match, double, or even triple their employees' charitable donations. If your company has a matching-gift program, request a matching-gift form from your employer and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. Matching gift forms are most often found in Human Resources.
Eligible donors for a corporate matching gift may include:
- Current full-time or part-time employee
- Retired employee
- Spouse of employee
- Widow or and widower of former employee
Many matching gift companies require that participants provide the Federal Tax ID number of the recipient organization when applying for a match. The Tax ID for Southwestern Adventist University is 1750891465600.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Commemorative gifts are a meaningful way to honor or memorialize loved ones. For Southwestern it is an honor to have our alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends recognized in this way.
There are several ways to establish a memorial gift, including:
- Making a gift to a specific fund or project at any time
- Making a bequest in your will to provide funding after your lifetime
- Creating an endowment to fund a special program, project or scholarship
For more information on memorial and tribute gifts contact the Development Office at 817-202-6628.
Creating an endowed scholarship fund is an investment in the future. Scholarships can be awarded to Southwestern students based on academic achievement, special talents, financial need, or other criteria defined by you. You designate the purpose of your endowment, and earnings from that investment will grow over time to fund your scholarship for years to come.
To learn more about how you can establish an endowed scholarship fund, please contact the Director of Development at 817-202-6628.
