Biography
Dr. Ann Smith is originally from south central Pennsylvania and the oldest of four children. She entered the United States Air Force Nurse Corps in 1974 and retired in 1995. She is a nationally certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She taught in several universities since leaving active duty and most recently developed a nationally accredited pediatric nurse residency at Cook Children's Medical Center. She spent ten years there before retiring in 2018. So far, teaching at SWAU is her fourth version of "retirement". She enjoys bicycling, reading non-fiction and doing anything outdoors and on the water that does not include fishing.
Credentials
Dr. Ann Smith was initially a hospital diploma graduate from Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing. She earned baccalaureate and master's degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She later received her Ph.D in nursing from Texas Woman's University, followed by a second master's degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
