The Department of Nursing at Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) has launched a new certificate for graduate nurses to become certified educators. This certificate provides essential tools for registered nurses to transition into formal educator roles within both academic institutions and clinical practice settings. The efficient, flexible program consists of 3 to 4 eight-week courses and can be completed in as little as 11 months.

More than 7,000 miles from Keene, Texas, a group of Southwestern Adventist University students embarked on a journey of service, faith, and transformation. After more than 30 hours of travel across multiple flights, the team arrived in the island nation of Palau with a clear mission: to serve the students and community of Palau Mission Academy.

KEENE, Texas — Southwestern Adventist University has been selected to receive a Program Development Grant from the Council of Independent Colleges’ Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE). The $100,000 grant, made possible through support from Lilly Endowment Inc., will fund SWAU’s two-year initiative, “Purpose through Practice: Integrating Vocation and Calling into SWAU’s Innovation Framework,” from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2028.
